Facilities Design Senior Engineering Position (Colorado):

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer, management experience preferred.  Our ideal candidate would be able to step in on industrial projects and possibly take the position of Facilities Design Department Head in the near future.

Our ideal candidate would have experience in industrial settings such as oil and gas, refineries, mining, etc.  We also do a good deal of work in the municipal, commercial and institutional sectors, but are adequately staffed in those areas.

The Facilities Design Department currently consists of the following 

Basic Requirements for Position:

  1. Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school.
  2. Professional engineer by examination (must have passed both the FE and PE tests)

STEAM TURBINE LEAD ENGINEER

Located in Suburban Detroit, Michigan.  This position offers Base Salary plus

Bonus, paid Overtime, Relocation Assistance, and full Benefits.

Job Summary:
 
An Advanced-Level engineer for this major utility company who will be 
responsible for providing technical direction, management and maintenance 
of steam turbines, engineering design, testing, problem solving, and 
technical support for large steam turbine projects located at multiple sites
within the company. Provides expertise with the application of intensive 
and diversified knowledge of engineering principals and practices in broad 
areas of assignments.  Makes decisions independently on engineering 
problems and methods, and represents the organization to resolve important 
issues. Maintain liaison with outside vendor organization, with responsibility 
for acting independently on technical matters. Organizes team/workgroups, 
directs, coordinates and reviews the work of a group of professionals.
 
Key Accountabilities
Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering and scientific 
principles and practices in project management, outage management and 
equipment specification for normal operation and outages of steam turbines.
Provide technical direction for major maintenance outages during the spring 
and fall outage seasons.
Develop new or improved techniques and business practices to troubleshoot 
mechanical problems with steam turbines.
Keep up to date on current and developing technology and recommendations 
that will benefit company goals.
Makes recommendations and presentations to management on detailed scopes

Manages outside supplier services including the preparation of requests for 
quote, bid evaluations, choice of products and elimination of design 
deficiencies prior to equipment shipment.
Manages the development and execution of large or complex steam turbine 
projects.
Provide technical expertise for root cause analysis for various Steam turbine 
related issues
Lead, work direction and technical training for operators and maintenance 
personnel on steam turbines, controls, valves, generators.
Establish and support  technical and budget direction for large steam turbine 
outage projects.
Recommends and implements solutions to complex problems involving the 
engineering, design, operation, and maintenance of the turbine generators.
Reviews documents and prints for steam turbine components.

Qualifications:
 
Bachelor's degree in Engineering. 
Advanced studies in related discipline are preferred.
Twelve years steam turbine experience as a turbine engineer within a service

PRINCIPAL ENGINEER ANALYST - AEROSPACE

- Lead the design, development, and validation of algorithms for the Joint Precision and Approach Landing System (JPALS) and Ground-Based Augmentation System (GBAS) team.

- Support the modeling and simulation of the JPALS fixed base system and the Ground-Based Regional Augmentation System (GRAS) system.

- Develop experiments using various GPS receiver and antenna configurations and multi-path environments to minimize system errors and evaluate system monitor performance, analyze recorded field data, and validate a high-fidelity multi-path model.

Principle Nuclear Tech Project Mgmt Specialist

Duties:

1) Develop outage and pre-outage schedules. Identify, develop, and input , using Project View, into the outage schedule sequences and ties with other outage work. Coordinate all refueling and non-refueling activities o the refueling floor and in the refueling cavity. Supervise and direct approximately 45 personnel during outage periods. This includes Refueling Team members, Containment Coordinators, Contractors, Polar Crane Operators, and Foreign Material Watches.

2) Supervise and coordinate the refueling equipment maintenance and personnel readiness for the outage. This requires interfacing with site senior management, numerous organizations, work groups, and vendors. Resolving equipment problems and developing repair solutions. Ensuring that the required equipment is available and ready for the outage at each site. Work ticket initiation and completion. Coordinate budget (reduce duplication of equipment were appropriate), resources for training, maintenance of equipment, and implementation of refueling activities at each site. Site procedure maintenance. Recruitment of new personnel and negotiation of those personnel with their supervision. Full fill the designated representative at the sites.

3) Provide and administrate training for refueling team members. Identify, develop, conduct and coordinate training courses within the company and outside the company. Standardize procedure between the sites and maintain the corporate NGG procedure. This includes ownership, development and revision of procedures specific to refueling activities. This requires working closely with Engineering, Maintenance and Operations.

4) Supervise and monitor qualification of refueling team members and ensure that all required qualifications are maintained current and correctly. Provide and input into the Personnel Development Qualification program. Maintain all qualification records and vault required documentation. Oversee supplemental resource requirements for refueling activities, including identifying Shared Resource and contractor needs as well as soliciting employees to support NGG sites on the Refueling Team.

Requirements:

1) Refueling related experience and detailed knowledge of refueling and associated work. 2) Knowledgeable in core configuration and core off-load and reload process. 3) Knowledgeable on technical requirements of the reactor vessel and associated systems. 4) Knowledgeable on all associated refueling equipment and support equipment. 5) Familiar with outage scheduling programs and software. 6) Six-to-eight years of relevant work experience required, 9+ years preferred. 7) Identify training and budgeting for shared resources from the various supporting sites. 8) Management and coordination of other projects that interface with the refueling team for space and resources. For examples: the reactor stud removal project represented over three days of critical path time($800K) and Reactor Head replacement ($5million plus), vessel cover installation, etc. 9) In a typical refueling outage, the Refueling Manager controls 40% or more of the critical path. 10) Coordinate site budgets to reduce duplication of equipment (cost), where appropriate, and share the cost of expensive equipment between the sites.

The selected candidate will be required to obtain U.S. Nuclear Power Plant Unescorted Access and will participate in the company's Fitness-for-Duty Program. Candidates may also be required to maintain qualifications and on-call responsibilities in support of the plant Emergency Response Organization. Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) Engineer

Duties: 

The Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) engineer will be responsible for PRA model development and maintenance, as well as application of risk methodology in support of nuclear plant operation. Progress Energy has General Electric, Westinghouse, and B&W plant designs and the individual would support one or more of those plants. The candidate should have a working knowledge of modeling equipment and human reliability and the ASME quality standard. In addition, the candidate should have experience with PSA applications including maintenance rule, the significance determination process, and use of risk information in license amendment requests. Additional experience in the areas of BWR technology, human reliability analysis, and level 2 PRA would be of additional benefit. The individual will work primarily in the corporate office but will be expected to travel periodically to the nuclear plant sites.

Requirements:

Candidates should have experience in project management with teams of diverse individuals, a strong work ethic, high standards, and demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. The candidate will interface with teams of individuals as a peer project manager and will be expected to lead project teams without positional authority.

BS Engineering degree required. At least four years of PSA experience is preferred.  The selected candidate will be required to obtain U.S. Nuclear Power Plant Unescorted Access and will participate in the company's Fitness-for-Duty Program. Candidates may also be required to maintain qualifications and on-call responsibilities in support of the plant Emergency Response Organization. Engineer III

Duties:

The Technical Specifications & Standards organization is seeking a motivated and well organized engineer to develop 3D equipment/materials models and associated bills of materials to support the implementation of the 3D design automation strategy within the Transmission Department. Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:

3D parametric modeling in MicroStation, preferably within a utility environment; maintain template/seed files, utilize level libraries, develop/maintain cell libraries, adhere to base CAD standard environment, and organize/manage bills of material groups. Priority will be given to those who have 3D modeling experience in a utility environment.

The candidate will be responsible for:  Creating 3D parametric models of equipment/materials with the proper amount of details to ensure the maintenance of the production standards is not labor intensive; Implementing bills of materials grouping to be used in conjunction with 3D cells, supply chain cost information, and typical construction assemblies. Perform engineering releases to ensure system functions are compatible to end user needs. Utilizing Boolean extraction methods to produce easily maintained engineering documents.

Senior Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

Duties:

The successful candidate will fill a position in the Electrical and Instrumentation and Control Unit. The I&C Design Engineer responsibilities/duties include:

1. Responsible for providing leadership and technical guidance to engineering personnel (both permanent and contractor) within I&C Design Engineering. Responsibilities include monitoring the work performed by the functional staff, providing direction, and responding to staff questions regarding NGGC procedures, policy and practices.

2. Provide a high level of technical knowledge of engineering design of power plant systems and overall operations and maintenance on a multi-discipline level, with particular strength in I&C Design Engineering. Use this knowledge to provide direction for both the staff and contracted A/E?s.

3. Function as Responsible Engineer in the development of engineering products in the PASSPORT system that include modification packages, specifications, drawings, design basis documents, licensing basis documents, and investigation responses to plant non-conformance reports.

4. Perform root cause investigations to ensure comprehensive corrective action plans are developed to prevent recurrence of design and process errors.

5. Monitor industry developments through meetings, conferences, industry-related periodicals, books and publications to facilitate and enhance the development and implementation of engineering design and project management practices for the department.

6. Provide technical assistance to engineering staff or function as preparer/verifier in support of analyzing, designing, maintaining and reviewing engineering calculations in accordance with applicable NGGC procedures. Through understanding of ANSI/ISA-67.04.01-2000 and ISA-RP67.04.02-2000 is required.

7. Provide direction to department efforts to identify and implement design improvements and specification developments for enhanced engineering/project management processes.

8. Serve as technical liaison with all levels of management as well as internal/external suppliers, customers and vendors.

9. Perform design modifications to the Nuclear Power Plant. These include pressure, temperature, flow, Analytical and Radiation Monitoring systems. Familiarity with the application of industrially available instrumentation is required. Experience with the design of electrical control circuits is preferred.

10. The selected candidate will develop instrumentation and electrical drawings to support his modifications. Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers and digital systems is desired. Familiarity with troubleshooting techniques on instrument systems desired.

Requirements:

1. Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited school. M.S. degree is desirable.

2. Guideline: 10 years is typically necessary to develop skills for this position. A total of ten years power plant experience of which five years is nuclear power related is preferred.

3. Have a working knowledge of engineering design of nuclear power plant systems and overall operations and maintenance on a multi-discipline level, particularly in the area of instrumentation and control.

4. Have a working knowledge with the improved technical specifications, FSAR/DBD requirements and other documents controlling the operation, modification, maintenance and testing of a nuclear facility. Working knowledge of both plant electrical and mechanical drawings.

5. Professional Engineering License (PE) is desired.

6. Demonstrated proficiency in and the ability to train engineering staff with design/analysis and project management skills.

7. Demonstrated proficiency with: oral/written communication skills, organizational skills, engineering economics, PC application software, engineering philosophies and methods, and the ability to accept input from a variety of sources and make sound technical decisions.

8. This position requires a demonstrated ability to develop philosophies and provide leadership and direction to Design groups in order to effectively optimize departmental and corporate strategic objectives. As a senior position, this position will assume some of the administrative and technical oversight of the staff to allow the supervisor to more clearly focus on areas requiring higher management attention.

Duties:

The Senior I&C Design Engineer will be responsible for the design of modifications to the Nuclear Power Plant. These include pressure, temperature, flow, Analytical and Radiation Monitoring systems. Familiarity with the application of industrially available instrumentation is required. Experience with the design of electrical control circuits is required. The selected candidate will develop instrumentation and electrical drawings to support his modifications. Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers and digital systems is desired. Superior communication skills and leadership ability is necessary since interface with various plant groups will be required to successfully accomplish the job function. Familiarity with troubleshooting techniques on instrument systems desired. The selected individual will be responsible for addressing issues in the plants Corrective Action Program that are assigned. The selected candidate will check the work of other engineers. Prepare job estimates, design modifications, specify all installation materials, and field follow the construction of projects. Interface with Operations, Maintenance and contractor personnel is required. Perform Uncertainty Calculations on certain instrument loops.

Senior System Engineer

Duties:

The system engineer will be responsible for the reliable performance of Electrical Distribution systems at a commercial nuclear power plant. The system engineer will monitor and trend system performance, conduct strategic planning for system life cycle maintenance, provide direct on-call support to maintenance and operations personnel, prepare and supervise special tests, investigate and develop solutions for adverse conditions including root cause analysis, review industry operating experience for applicability and recommend appropriate preventive measures, identify and coordinate system repairs.

Requirements:

Fully competent in use of both principles and application. Works independently on tasks/projects with limited supervision. Receives guidance only unusual or complex projects or issues. Identifies problems and possible solutions and takes appropriate action for resolution. Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET or equivalently accredited school and 5+ years professional experience.

Supervisor-Distribution Engineering

Duties:

This position provides leadership and direction to their engineering staff whom is responsible for the management of the region's distribution assets. This position is accountable for supervising the design of capital improvement projects, maintenance projects, governmental relocation projects, defective material projects, and environmental compliance projects. Supervisor and staff will also serve as the primary engineering technical resource for field operations personnel in their assigned area, and provide engineering support for Distribution Control Center (DCC) and Customer Service Center (CSC) emergent issues. Supervisor is responsible for the development and implementation of business plans, budgets, training initiatives, safety programs, employee development and performance management.

Selected candidate without a PE will be expected to obtain their license within the first 12 months of employment. Have knowledge of industry and Company engineering policies and procedures. Experience with CYME - Dist, FMS, and Progress Energy web-based distribution engineering analysis tools preferred. Must have experience with distribution circuit analysis methodology to evaluate loading, voltage, and balance.
